The Government of Iceland
has decided to entrust the Ministry for
Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of
Welfare and the Minis try
of the Interior with investigating
the manner
in which Iceland can promote
greater international
understanding of spinal cord injury.
In May
2011, The United Nations will be
launching a campaign to promote
road traffic safety. The initiative will last for a decade and countries
worldwide are urged to encourage
improvements in traffic issues,
increase the use of safety equipment and to reduce speed limits, as well
as to improve responses to road
accidents. The Icelandic Institute of Spinal Cord Injury
has been involved in promoting greater
international understanding of spinal cord injury, and
the Icelandic authorities have assisted
the Institute in a variety of ways
over the past few years.

Le gouvernement islandais a décidé
de confier au Ministére des Affaires
étrangères,
au Ministère des Affaires
sociales et au Ministère de
l'Intérieur, une enquête
qui examinera comment l'Islande peut promouvoir
une meilleure compréhension
des traumatismes médullaires
à l'échelle
internationale.
En mai 2011, les Nations Unies lanceront
une campagne visant à
encourager la sécurité
routière. L'initiative se déroulera
sur dix ans, aucours desquels les pays du monde
entier seront encouragés
à promouvoir des améliorations
en matière de trafic, d'augmenter
l'utilisation d'équipements de sécurité
et de réduire les limites de
vitesse, tout en perfectionnant
leurs réponses aux accidents de la route.
L'Icelandic Institute of Spinal Cord Injury (Institut islandais des
traumatismes médullaires)
participe à la promotion d'une meilleure
compréhension des traumatismes médullaires
d l'échelle internationale et, au
cours de ces dernières années,
les autorités
islandaises ont soutenu l'Institut de diverses façons.
